Gurkha / Corduroy

In the military field endurance rhymes with practicality, without forgetting sometimes a small touch of refinement! This is the case with the gurkha pants. And we imagined it in velvet for its robust and warm side.

The Gurkha has two outward darts, to give you comfort. To learn more about pleated pants, we talk about them here!

And to discover other Gurkhas, it’s this way!

Brisbane Moss is an English cotton specialist, based for many years in West Yorkshire, a mecca for heavy cotton weaving. We have selected this ultra-traditional 100% cotton velvet from their extensive collection, which combines softness and strength.

However, the rib is medium, to obtain an aesthetic a little more contemporary than with the big ancestral ribs. Two colors this season, “straw” simple, classic and versatile, and a “mouse gray” slightly mottled, discreet, and versatile too.

Brisbane Moss

Initially called Moss Brothers Limited were weavers and converters of corduroy and moleskin fabrics since the mid-19th century. In 1970 Moss Brothers took over Brisbane Jones, a local velvet and corduroy manufacturer and became known as Brisbane Moss Corduroys, in 1983 Brisbane Moss became part of the Chapman Group and launched a stock fabric service. Over the next decade, the challenge will be to create exciting textile fabrications and fashion fabrics without further damaging the planet, Brisbane Moss has already accepted and met the challenge of sustainability, organic yarns, Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification for dyeing, finishing, factory auditing and recycled packaging.

The sustainability challenge continues as we aim to reduce our carbon footprint and launch innovative new fabrics, even using locally sourced and woven yarns on traditional Lancashire looms.

Made in Portugal

As the manufacture of complex models was not possible with our former supplier in Romania, we looked for a workshop in Portugal to develop our Gurkha models.

This small artisanal structure founded and directed by a Franco-Portuguese textile baron gave us carte blanche to design qualitative and demanding products, with small series. The thirty or so seamstresses in this workshop work wonders and for us, it is a real pleasure to be flexible and responsive. This relative proximity allows us to reduce our carbon footprint while producing locally.

Cotton does not fear water and can therefore be machine washed. However, to avoid shrinkage of the material, do not use programs that are too hot (above 30°) with too strong spinning (1000 turns and more), prefer gentler programs that respect the garment. Don’t use a dryer if you don’t want to end up with shorts!

To tidy it up? There is nothing better than a hanger with bar or clip, as we propose in our “Accessories”. If you don’t have one, no problem! In this case, a simple and clean folding of the pants should be considered. As a precaution, it is recommended not to close the buttons.
