Fabrics

In a tailoring atelier, the first thing a client encounters is the fabric swatch books — cardboard binders grouping fabrics of various qualities.

Quality Above All

At Scavini, we work with the world’s finest mills, including Holland & Sherry from the UK, and Vitale Barberis Canonico and Loro Piana from Italy. These prestigious names are essential partners, with whom we collaborate closely to present you with the finest and most refined fabrics.

Our Atelier Selection

Unlike others, we do not offer low entry-level prices at the expense of quality. At Scavini, our very first range already begins with 100% Italian wool.

Our selection is built primarily around Vitale Barberis Canonico Super 110’s — the so-called ‘perennial wools’: timeless classics, elegant and versatile. We also add a few flannels and cottons, chosen for their simplicity and refinement.

Drapers Italy

Drapers Italy is an official partner of Vitale Barberis Canonico (VBC), selecting fabrics usually reserved for large-scale ready-to-wear. The house also develops its own qualities and colors, offering fine wools and cottons that perfectly complement the collections of our other mills.
Italy

Solbiati

Founded in 1874, Solbiati is recognized as one of the great specialists in linen, a fiber it masters to perfection. With its wide range of qualities and colors, it has become an essential mill for summer garments.
Italy

Carnet

Based in Como, this Italian house selects and distributes fabrics from various European producers. We especially value it for its exquisite silk linings and fine selection of Harris Tweed®.
England

Lovat

Located on the border between England and Scotland, Lovat is a discreet mill specializing in traditional tweeds. We offer a selection of its bunches, with a distinctly British charm.

Wool

Wool is the queen of fabrics for suits, jackets, and coats. Thermo-regulating, naturally wrinkle-resistant, and with an elegant drape, it combines both fluidity and structure. Most wools come from Merino sheep, raised in Australia or New Zealand.

Its weight varies by season: 220 to 300 g for spring-summer, 320 g and above for autumn-winter, and up to 600 g for coats.

Cotton

“Cotton is found mainly in trousers — chinos and denims — but also in shirts and t-shirts worn close to the skin. A fabric of everyday wear, it is appreciated for its simplicity and its resistance to frequent washing.

Linen

The ultimate summer fiber, linen is strong, breathable, and quick-drying, offering a refreshing feel even in the hottest weather.

Hypoallergenic and eco-friendly, it is also one of the oldest materials used in clothing.

Coton

Silk

Derived from the thread spun by the silkworm, this natural fiber is prized for its softness and sheen. Thermo-regulating, it can be worn in both summer and winter, bringing luminosity and refinement to fabrics.
