The Teba Jacket

Menswear history is filled with emblematic garments. Among them there is the Teba Jacket originating from Spain which became a timeless icon one can wear for hunting or strolling through the city.

Where does its name come from?

It bears the name of the 22nd Count from Teba: Carlos Alfonso de Mitjans y Fitz-James Stuart who was known as the best shot from Europe. It was offered to him as a gift from the king Alphonse XIII, crafted in London and perfected by a tailor in Zarautz in the Spanish Basque Country.

It’s an unstructured jacket without shoulder pads or canvassing which gives a soft shoulder. The sleeves are just like on a shirt, with buttoned cuffs. It’s remarkably simple to make.

The front of a Teba Jacket is easy to recognize with a square hem, patch pockets with flaps, and lapels without the usual British notch which can turn into high collars.

The Teba Jacket embodies relaxed elegance in the countryside just as in the city. If you pair it with a tie or a pocket square it has the comfort of a bomber jacket with the sophisticated look of a suit jacket. This emblematic piece which is often compared to an Austrian Jacket has seduced the most elegant men worldwide from Naples to London or Hong Kong.
It can also be crafted using jersey knit to be even more light and comfortable just like a sweater. At Scavini we like to twist things and we’re offering it made from a wool linen blend for this summer season.
