The suit naturally retains its rightful place in a man’s wardrobe. Yet there are occasions when one wishes to dress well without necessarily wearing a traditional suit jacket.
Whether for going to work, having lunch in town, or simply maintaining a certain elegance in everyday life, a softer, less formal jacket can be especially welcome.
It was with this in mind that we created the Maubourg jacket at Scavini, an alternative to the classic suit jacket.

An elegant jacket, without the rigidity of a suit
The Maubourg jacket borrows certain elements from traditional tailoring, while setting itself apart through its construction.
With no internal canvas, it remains exceptionally supple. Its straight cut and kimono-inspired sleeves provide welcome freedom of movement, while its stand collar with an extended tab gives it a distinctive silhouette.
Halfway between a tailored jacket and a workwear jacket, it evokes both the elegance of Paris’s Left Bank and the functional wardrobe of architects.
It allows the wearer to maintain a refined appearance without necessarily adopting the conventions of a traditional suit.

What can you wear instead of a suit jacket?
For a man who wishes to dress elegantly without wearing a suit, the Maubourg jacket offers an appealing alternative.
Paired with wool flannel trousers, an Oxford shirt and a tie, it creates an elegant outfit that is less formal than a two-piece suit.
Worn with a roll-neck sweater and wool trousers, it creates a more relaxed silhouette, particularly well suited to autumn and winter.
It can also be paired with chinos or raw denim for occasions when a suit jacket would feel too formal.
The appeal of the Maubourg lies precisely in this versatility: the same jacket can complement a variety of outfits, without requiring an entirely different wardrobe.

Flannel, tweed and corduroy for winter
For our autumn–winter collection, we offer several versions of the Maubourg jacket, crafted from fabrics traditionally found in the menswear wardrobe.
Our wool flannel styles by Leichtfried Loden, an Austrian mill founded in 1884, are distinguished by their softness and fluid drape.
Our jackets in Scottish tweed from Lovat Mill bring greater texture and character, while Italian corduroy from Duca Visconti offers a warm alternative that is particularly easy to pair with wool or cotton trousers.
For the coldest months, selected versions also feature a quilted lining.
These different fabrics make it possible to choose a jacket suited to one’s style and everyday habits, while retaining the Maubourg’s distinctive cut.

A different way to dress every day
The Maubourg jacket is not intended to replace the suit on every occasion. Rather, it meets a different need: that of an elegant, comfortable and easy-to-wear garment.
For those who find a suit jacket too formal for everyday wear, it offers a different approach to the classic menswear wardrobe.
