Wool Flannel

Few fabrics carry as much value and emotion as flannel, with its typically British softness. The French word “flanelle” is ancient, coming from the English flannel, borrowed from the Welsh “gwlanen”. Technically, it is a fabric whose plain weave is blurred by abrasion of its surface, revealing a light fluffy cover. In the 19th century, flannel was opposed to the much denser worsted twill and other gabardines. Therefore, flannel was considered lighter and more breathable, and therefore a summer fabric, which is something to smile about nowadays.
As one should never confuse the material and the way of weaving, let us specify that the flannel is a way of weaving. And which can be made of various materials, even if it is generally made of wool, or wool & cashmere. We can also find cotton flannel, in fact quite similar to moleskin.
Our elders generally hate flannel. They have the memory of a material that scratched their thighs terribly as little boys that their mothers wanted to see well wrapped up. The wool manufacturers have reacted vigorously to not let themselves be affected by artificial materials. No more scratchy wool, hello softness, and flexibility.

Drago

The Drago mill is located in the heart of the Italian wool heartland, in Biella. The family business is run by Paolo Drago, together with his mother and sister. Founded some fifty years ago, the company was originally a worsted spinners mill, producing spools of fine yarns that were sold to various weavers, both Italian and English. Until the integration of a local weaver some twenty years ago. Success was continuous. From a manufacturer for some of the biggest names in ready-to-wear, Drago wanted to diversify its offer and move towards the beautiful, i.e. tailor-made service. As a result, Drago has developed numerous bunches of beautiful wools. Like this “Rugby Flannels” appreciated by the most prestigious tailors, from London to Milan to Paris. These soft flannels are available in a wide range of colors. We bet they’d be wonderful for bodywarmers this winter.

Romania

In Belgium, we met a charming man, full of humanity, at the head of a small production unit located in the forests of Transylvania, Romania. His specialty is deconstructed pants and jackets. His approach, his sense of listening, and his search for quality have allowed us to develop new clothing models, with an assertive sartorial aesthetic and classy finishes.

It is with pleasure that we develop season after season our small repertoire of sport jackets, which elegantly and casually complement our pants, with the aim of developing a more global offer, to dress you from head to toe. With quality, and thanks to small subcontractors, close to us, with whom we can share desires and values.

Upkeep

Dry cleaning is highly recommended for the wool product. However, it should not be done often: only once a year, or even less! A simple steam ironing at home or at the dry cleaner’s is enough in most cases to remove odors, bacteria and to give the jacket a good look.
