S3: The One Pleat Cut

With the success of our two historical cuts, some gentlemen asked us for a more classic cut, with a more pronounced tailored look. It is to meet these expectations that we developed the one-pleat cut!
It is the most classic and comfortable of our cuts. It has the highest waistline and an outward facing pleat.
An old-school look full of panache with an extended placket, side adjusters and little twists in the style. It is ideal for men who love Pitti Uomo and Italian sartorial elegance.
The trousers of this cut are made in Italy, in a family workshop near Naples.
High waist – Comfortable leg – Italian extended waistband – Ideal for men looking for a sartorial style

Cool Wool

Wool is thermoregulatory, which means that it adapts to the seasons. It can be dense and felted in winter like flannel, or on the contrary open and airy in summer. It is then called “cool wool” or “tropical worsted”. The weaving structure is made in such a way that the threads are spaced out, thus allowing air to pass. This was referred to as “aérifère” in french in the 1950s. In addition, to keep the structure of the fabric, and a perfect shape, the threads must be adapted. They are spun so as to be twisted, that is to say nervous and little crumpled. The English speak of “high-twist”, giving a “wrinkle-free” quality. Thus, with wool, a natural material that is timeless and millennia old, it is possible to create pants that are suitable for the modern age.

Alfred Brown

In 1915, Herbert Brown set up his “mill”, or wool factory, near Leeds. With his looms, he made solid wool fabrics sold to uniform manufacturers. During the Second World War, the manufacture of fabrics became a strategic sector for the Army, and “Brown and Sons”, the name of the time, became a recognized supplier. The family-owned English clothmaker became Alfred Brown in 1952 and still supplies the blue wool twill for the blazers of the Red Arrows pilots, the English equivalent of the Patrouille de France. The grooms of the RMS Queen Mary were dressed in Alfred Brown wool. So were the actors of the Harry Potter film series, as Warner’s costume designers also liked their typically British fabrics of Alfred Brown Limited. A family business, close to its land and its people, working for the best tailors in the world. A beautiful story in which we at Scavini are happy to participate.

Upkeep

Dry cleaning is highly recommended for wool product. However, it should not be done often: only once a year, or even less! A simple steam ironing at home or at the dry cleaner’s is enough in most cases to remove odours, bacteria and to make the trousers look good again.
